In today’s episode of Coredemptrix, Mediatrix, and Advocate, Dr Mark Miravalle talks about the roles of the many mediators between God and humanity in the Old Testament. Like Moses’ mediation between God and the Israelites, Mary is mediatrix of all graces by her holy act of bringing Christ, our redeemer, to us as both God and man. Video – Fr. Angelo Geiger – Homily: The Wise, the Clever, & the Little Children

Homilies #117 – Wednesday Homily (7min)>>> Play

Ave Maria!

As Malcolm Muggleridge observed, there’s nothing so vulgar or perverse left in human experience for which we cannot fly in some professor from some university to justify it. Said in a more plain fashion, the wise and the clever of this world are skilled in justifying the worst of evils – from contraception to abortion to pornography to same-sex marriage. The learned and clever are poised to take what they want and leave the rest behind, and they delight in fashioning God in their own image.

It is not so with the little children of God. They are willing to have the truth revealed to them; they are willing to be fed directly from the hand of God. They accept God on His terms, not theirs. They assent to Christ’s authority and receive the truth as it is, knowing full well that Christ Himself first came into this world and walked in their shoes, as a mere child.

Let’s now listen to another wonderful homily by Fr. Angelo.

News – Hate Crimes Bill, Censorship on the Sly

Tuesday, July 17th, 2007

Ave Maria!

Please get the word out on this. There is an effort to pass a bill in the Senate that includes religious censorship and there seems to be a major effort at keeping it quiet. I did a search on “Hate Crimes”, “Hate Crime”, “S. 1105″ and “Senate Bill # S.1105″ on Google News and sorted by date and relevance and either came up with very few returns (less than 20) or even after ten pages I still had not found one major newspaper or TV site that is covering this, not CNN, CBS, MSNBC, not Reuters, Wall Street Journal, LA Times, nor NY Times. SILENCE. I talked to Fr. John Corapi and Theresa Tomeo on this two weeks ago and they agree, it is not being talked about. This is probably the most serious abandonment of our most fundamental founding principles of democracy, the right to Free Speech and the right to Exercise One’s Religion and no one is talking about it.

Further, it is being snuck into the Senate on a budget bill, see Life Site News excerpts:

WASHINGTON, D.C., July 13, 2007 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Senate Democrats will hold US troops fighting the “War on Terror” as hostages in exchange for sweeping “hate crimes” legislation if the Senate votes this week, perhaps as early as Monday [yesterday relative to this posting], to include it in the defense spending bill.

Fears of religious censorship were confirmed when…

Rep. Artur Davis, a supporter of the bill, admitted that under this law a pastor could be charged with the crime of incitement if he preached against homosexuality and a person in the congregation left church and committed a crime against a homosexual. http://www.lifesite.net/ldn/2007/apr/07042601.html

Given the fact that even more explicit censorship has recently been swept into law in Sweden, Netherlands, England, Australia, Germany and even neighboring Canada with Christians being convicted and facing real fines and imprisonment, this should be considered a first step toward more serious restrictions.

The truly unprecedented combination of the magnitude of these changes, the devious tactics employed and the deafening silence in the mass media is shocking! The moral issues are subjects that should be discussed in public forums in a democratic society. Liberals and conservatives must unite and stand-up. Please get this out to everyone on your email list and contact your Senator to stop this censorship! See links below.

Come to think of it, email your newspaper and TV editor and ask, “Why the silence??!!”

Video – Fr. Angelo Geiger – Homily: Tolerance & Truth

Homilies #116 – Tuesday Homily (6min)>>> Play

Ave Maria!

“It will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom on the day of judgment than for you.?? -from the Gospel of Matthew

What is the greatest danger to society? Is it Islam, Christianity, Secularism? Is “tolerance” the only true virtue, and does it mean mindlessly accepting all creeds and practices? When our culture leaves so many of life’s fundamental questions unanswered – questions of life’s meaning, purpose, morality, and destiny – where are we to turn and who are we to trust? As Chesterton once observed, religious freedom has come to mean the freedom to talk publically about everything except the most important thing: a person’s religion.

Fr. Angelo implicitly toches on these foundational issues today’s homily.

Homilies #115 – Monday Homily (10min) >>> Play

Ave Maria!

St. Teresa of Avila called Carmel “the Order of the Virgin.?? St. John of the Cross credited Mary with saving him from drowning as a child, leading him to Carmel and helping him escape from prison. St. Theresa of the Child Jesus believed that Mary cured her from illness. On her First Communion she dedicated her life to Mary. During the last days of her life she frequently spoke of Mary.

At Lourdes in 1858, the Virgin chose to make Her last apparition on July 16th, feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, the day the Church commemorates Her apparition to Saint Simon Stock. And at Fatima on October 13, 1917, it is as Our Lady of Mount Carmel that Mary appeared when She said farewell to the three children. (Saints of the Day)

Come now and listen to Fr. Angelo share with us the last will and testament of Christ on the cross, as He entrusted His Mother to us.

Below is a profile of today’s saint, Blessed Kateri, Lily of the Mohawks:

Daughter of a Christian Algonquin woman captured by Iroquois and married to a non-Christian Mohawk chief. Orphaned during a smallpox epidemic, which left her with a scarred face and impaired eyesight. Converted and baptized in 1676 by Father Jacques de Lamberville, a Jesuit missionary. Shunned and abused by relatives for her faith. Escaped through 200 miles of wilderness to the Christian Native American village of Sault-Sainte-Marie. Took a vow of chastity in 1679. Known for spirituality and austere lifestyle. Miracle worker. Her grave became a pilgrimage site and place of miracles for Christian Native Americans and French colonists. First Native American proposed for canonization, her cause was started in 1884 under Pope Leo XIII.

The Cornerstone #16 – Scotus on the absolute predestination of Christ. >>> Play

Ave Maria!

Fr. Maximilian shows how Scotus, in contrast with the opinion of St. Thomas Aquinas, held that the predestination of Christ was absolute, sin or no sin. To say, with Aquinas, that the primary motive of the Incarnation was redemption from sin is to say that the Word-made-flesh was occasioned by sin; this makes the primacy of Christ relative to sin–”No sin, no Incarnation”–this is the Thomistic school. To the contrary, Bl. John writes: “If the fall were the reason for Christ’s predestination it would follow that the greatest work of God [the Incarnation] was occasioned.” For him this was “absurd”. Rather, Bl. John finds the primary motive of the Incarnation in something prior to foreseen sin and holds that sin or no sin, the Word would have become flesh.

Standing Fast #8 – A glimpse of our new website maryvictrix.com >>> Play

Ave Maria!

Fr. Angelo Mary Geiger introduces a wonderful new website called maryvictrix.com – dedicated to the Virgin Mary and specifically as Our Lady of Victory. She is given this title after she gave Christendom the victory over the Muslims in the Battle of Lepanto, in 1571 when Pope St. Pius V implored all Christians to pray the Rosary for this intention.

In this historical context we created this website to promote Marian chivalry among men. By applying these principles of chivalry to spiritual warfare we hope to help men to reclaim their fatherhood, moral leadership, and to become leaders and promoters of their faith.

Come listen to Fr. Angelo’s unique perspective and check out the new site at: maryvictrix.com

Ave Maria!

This week, Dr Mark Miravalle talks about our Lady’s role as Mediatrix of Graces, a part of which we all must partake. The title ‘Mediatrix’ does not make her equal with Christ, or make her anything above Our Lord. She willfully cooperated with God’s plan in order to distribute the many graces which Our Lord gained for mankind on the Cross at Cavalry. By her steadfast love and endurance, Our Lady gained much merit, which she gladly gives to those who implore her motherly aid.
