Why Did Sinless Jesus Seek Baptism of Repentance? – Jan 13 – Homily – Fr Alan

Views 1214

In the homily for the Baptism of the Lord (Jan 13), Fr. Alan explains that Jesus had no need for repentance. However, in obeying the will of His Father by submitting to John's symbolic baptism he identified himself - though sinless - with sinful humanity, and becoming our Brother, Our Lord makes it possible for us to become Children of God. By His example, he leads us to conversion and Baptism, the sacrament by which we are forgiven and saved.
