On the occasion of the memorial of Franciscan missionary Blessed Odoric of Pordenone (Jan 14), Fr. Matthias reflects on the value of the liturgical time that begins today, "Ordinary Time.

While we usually equate the word "ordinary" with "plainess, lack of distinction, etc.," Our Lord explains the true sense of "ordinary time": "This is the time of fulfillment. The Kingdom of God is at hand." We order our time to the drama of living according to his instruction: "Repent, and believe in the Gospel."
