St. Mark the Evangelist, always a disciple of Jesus Christ from his youth, had his ups and downs, just like his mentor, St. Peter, whose Gospel he presents. After falling out of favor with St. Paul after aborting a mission, he persevered and went on to become a martyr for the faith.
