Keep Your Eyes and Heart Always Fixed on Heaven – Aug 18 – Homily – Fr Joseph Michael

Fr. Joseph Michael McShane gives the homily on how we must detach from worldly distractions to pursue eternal life with God, relying on His divine grace and the sacraments, especially when worldly pursuits lead us away from Him.

The homily reminds us that our main goal on Earth is to reach eternal life with God, and we shouldn't let worldly things like money, power, or fame distract us. We can't achieve this on our own; we absolutely need God's grace to transform and help us. Often, people who gain great wealth or prestige forget God, becoming self-centered. To stay focused on God and receive His mercy and help, we must regularly turn to Him, especially through the Sacraments of Confession and the Holy Eucharist, which strengthen and nourish us on our spiritual journey. We are encouraged to keep Christ as our true treasure and our hearts united to Him, with the help of the Blessed Mother.
