No Joy in Evil: 10th Mark of Charity – Feb 04 – Homily – Fr Terrance

 

Fr Terrance gives the homily at Bloomington, IN on Feb 04, 2022, on the 10th Mark of Charity, love finds no joy in evil, as he continues his series on the Marks of Charity (1 Corinthians 13:6)

love takes no pleasure in evil

does not take pleasure in sin

God withdraws his grace when we deny the truth

Modern church heresies are moral, not doctrinal

Inversion of the Our Father "My will be done"

Unloving for God to bless sin

Love does not take pleasure in evil that happens to others,

taking pleasure in others misfortune is the language of hatred

People accusing us is the fruit of projecting their own evil onto us

Not to be condemning but God does want us to hate what he hates

Must learn to respond graciously to insult, give a blessing instead

Strength to be firm but be gracious

Love does not worry about self

Praying for those who suffer and do evil

Love is not fault-finding

Love excusing more than it accuses

Need to avoid detraction and a critical spirit

Critical is prideful and self-centered

Ask for our lady and lord to help us with things.
