The Life of St. Joseph of Leonissa, Confessor, First Order (d. 1612) for the Franciscan Saint of the Day for Feb 4. St. Joseph was born in Leonissa, Italy decided to enter the Franciscans rather than marry and practiced penance encourage and went to preach in Muslim Constantinople where he was captured and roasted alive over a fire until he was miraculously released. He then returned to Italy and promoted the faith and penance and worked to make peace wherever he could.

Reflection is on mortifying the flesh, abstaining from things, and eating things that are not our favorite to grow in holiness and love of God.
