"The Life of Bl. John of La Verna, Confessor, First Order (1259-1322) for the Franciscan Saint of the Day for Aug 13. Bl. John of La Verna had a devotion to Jesus crucified, meditation on the crucifix. He was a hermit on Mt. La Verna but the last two years of his life he started traveling and preaching.

Reflection is on confidence in Jesus crucified. St. Paul gloried only in Christ crucified and not in himself or any other man for he redeemed us. However, we must participate in His passion to share in the fruits.
