Hypocrisy and Obedience – Aug 25 – Homily – Fr Terrance

 

Fr Terrance gives the homily at Bloomington, IN on Aug 25 on how the hypocritical disobedience of Church leaders does not justify our own disobedience. In the Gospel today Our Lord teaches on the evil of hypocrisy, which He applies to the religious leaders of His day. Father points to the expose in the Pennsylvania Grand Jury report for an example of such hypocrisy in our day. However Jesus does not tell his disciples to disobey the leaders, but rather to respect their authority since it comes from God, even if they are unworthy themselves. In fact, obedience is the best remedy for hypocrisy.
