This is from our friars in Argentina stationed in a suburb of Buenos Aires relating their experiences with Cardinal Jorge Borgoglio.
From the FI Italian site immacolata.com written by Fr. Isidoro M. Cipres, FI:
Hooray, We Have a Pope!
We did not expect our Cardinal of Buenos Aires to be elected. It was a great surprise to many and for us.
We praise the Lord because he is good. His mercy is everlasting.
I can say something about our new Vicar of Christ, being a missionary in his neighboring Diocese of San Justo.
Indeed, he was much loved by the people because he is personable and helpful. He opposed with great force the immoral life and what encouraged her as gay marriage and abortion that the Argentine government has recently approved.
He was always with the poor, very supportive, even celebrating a Mass in the square. I concelebrated with him many times. Once I met him and he greeted me with a loud voice, shouting: “Behold, a son of St. Francis!”
He knew Fra Anselmo Marcos (Philippine friar, currently in Nigeria) very
well . When I was in our the community in Nunziatina, he always carried a bouquet of flowers every morning the statue of St. Therese.
He is very good at capturing the hearts of the people. Here in Argentina, people are very happy with his election.
May the Holy Spirit infuse our new Vicar of Christ with blessing and grace.
