Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

From MaryVictrix.com by Fr. Angelo Geiger on the anniversary of the passing of Thom and Mark Girard who were the first Knights of Lepanto, and beloved friends of the friars. Pray for them and their courageous family.

I here re-post my entry for July 2, 2008 on this the first anniversary of Thom Girard’s passing.  The accident occurred on June 30, but Marc survived into very early in the morning of July 1.  May our good knights rest in peace. I offered Mass for the repose of their souls this morning. More…

Year for Priests

Prayer for Priests

by St. Therese of Lisieux

O Jesus, eternal Priest,

keep your priests within the shelter of Your Sacred Heart,

where none may touch them.

Keep unstained their anointed hands,

which daily touch Your Sacred Body.

Keep unsullied their lips,

daily purpled with your Precious Blood.

Keep pure and unearthly their hearts,

sealed with the sublime mark of the priesthood.

Let Your holy love surround them and

shield them from the world’s contagion.

Bless their labors with abundant fruit and

may the souls to whom they minister be their joy and consolation

here and in heaven their beautiful and everlasting crown. Amen.

Ave Maria!June’s Theme: Faith, Hope, and Charity

“Let us draw near to receive the Bread of angels with a great faith and with a great flame of love, and let us await from this most sweet lover of our souls to be consoled in this life with the kiss of His mouth.”

June 28, 29 – St. Pio Daily – The Heart of a Saint

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

Ave Maria!June’s Theme: Faith, Hope, and Charity

28- “May our most sweet Lord deign to excommunicate me, separate me from Him, abandon me and leave me in the arms of the shame and sufferings due to my brothers; may He even cancel me from the book of life, provided that my brothers and my friends in this exile are saved, and that He does not deprive me of His charity and of His grace, from which nothing could ever separate me.”

29- “Faith is our guide, and we, behind its light, follow the path that leads to God, to His homeland. May the Lord deign to transform our hearts so that in containing the ardors of His charity, He manifests Himself to the souls of our brothers in order to win them.”

Jun 30 – Homily – Fr Bonaventure: Waves of Persecution

Homily #090630 ( 06min) Play – In today’s Gospel the boat which Jesus and the disciples were in was buffeted by the waves. This is symbolic of the waves of persecution against the Church and how the Martyr’s blood is the remedy to this evil as exemplified by St. Raymond Lull as well as the Roman Martyrs whose feast we celebrate today.

Ave Maria

Although the word “purgatory” is not explicitly used, there is no question that the doctrine is taught in Sacred Scripture. Both our Lord and St. Paul speak of it.

Ave Maria!

Here are the highlights from the beautiful Mass of Pentecost at the Marian Conference in La Crosse, Celebrated by Fr. Peter Fehlner, Fr. Pablo Straub, Fr. Thomas Euteneur, Fr. Jacinto Chapin and Fr.  Joseph Hirsch and includes the Homily by Fr. Peter where he covers three points:

1. How the heart of the Celebration of Pentecost is the Annunciation.
2. Why it is called Pentecost and how it is connected to the six days of creation, the Sabbath and the giving of the Law.
3. Why Pentecost is 10 days from the Ascension and how this relates to the Jewish Jubilee and the Glory in which we will partake.

Enjoy this glorious celebration at the new National Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

June 29th: Prayer to Sts. Peter and Paul

Monday, June 29th, 2009
One Minute Meditation

June 29

Blessed Redeemer, Saints Peter and Paul were leaders and models in strengthening the faith of the infant Church, and I ask them to pray for my faith to grow strong. Saint Paul wrote in his second letter to Saint Timothy, “I remind you to stir into flame the gift of God that you have.” Wherever I am still a baby in my relationship with You, weak and uncertain, I ask Saints Peter and Paul to pray for me to grow into spiritual maturity. Help me, O Lord, to increase in faith and trust. Where Your presence is but a spark in me, fan it into a flame that brightens other people’s lives. Saints Peter and Paul, pray for me. Amen.

Saturday, June 27th, 2009

Ave Maria!June’s Theme: Faith, Hope, and Charity

“But we will not acquire […] perfect sweetness and charity, if it is not exercised amidst repugnance, aversion and disgust. True peace consists not in fighting but in conquering. Those who have been beaten do not fight anymore, and nonetheless they do not have true peace.”

A Prayer for Priests

One Minute Meditation

By John J Cardinal Carberry

Keep them; I pray Thee, dearest Lord.

Keep them, for they are Thine

The priests whose lives burn out before

Thy consecrated shrine.

Keep them, for they are in the world,

Though from the world apart.

When earthly pleasures tempt, allure —

Shelter them in Thy heart.

Keep them and comfort them in hours

Of loneliness and pain,

When all their life of sacrifice

For souls seems but in vain.

Keep them and  remember, Lord,

they have no one but Thee.

Yet, they have only human hearts,

With human frailty.

Keep them as spotless as the Host,

That daily they caress;

Their every thought and word and deed,

Deign, dearest Lord, to bless.

If the priest is a saint, his people will be holy.

If the priest is holy, his people will be good.

If the priest is good, his people will be fair.

If the priest is fair, his people will be mediocre.

If the priest is mediocre, his people will be bad.
