Our Lord's closest personal friends failed Him, betrayed, abandoned, and denied Him on the night He gave them the pledge of future glory. If they could fail so miserably, we shouldn't be too sure of our own steadfastness, but rather approach our Lord in the Eucharist with humility and contrition.
