Ave Maria Meditations

I come to the foot of the tabernacle. I feel nothing. There is no enlightenment. Absolutely nothing impresses me that Jesus is present; neither my heart nor my soul feels anything near the tabernacle. Nevertheless I say: “Here you are, Jesus. I adore you.” And these words seem empty to me and I feel nothing; but in the depths of my heart I believe, I love, I adore. That is to live in the obscurity of faith.

Real devotion to the Blessed Sacrament is only to be gained by hard, grinding work of dry adoration before the hidden God. But such a treasure cannot be purchased at too great a cost, for once obtained, it makes of this life as near an approach to heaven as we can ever hope for.

Our Lady found this unworthy lukewarm person and obtained for her the grace to enter the Third Order of the Franciscans of the Immaculate. May this person spend all eternity in showing her gratitude.
