Fr Dominic Murphy Murphy gives the homily, on how St. Maximilian Kolbe serves as a profound model of total consecration to Our Lady, embodying a heroic death, zealous evangelization, and a deep Eucharistic life, inspiring us to live out our own consecration faithfully until death.
St. Maximilian Kolbe stands as an unparalleled example of living out consecration to Our Lady. He embodied this devotion to the fullest, culminating in his heroic death in a concentration camp. When a prisoner was chosen for starvation, St. Maximilian willingly, calmly, and gladly offered himself in the man's place, persevering in faith, singing, and preparing others for a holy death through Our Lady. He was a pioneer in deepening the understanding of Marian consecration, explaining how it leads to an intimate union with Mary, transforming us to be more like Christ. His life was also profoundly Eucharistic, marked by a deep devotion to the Eucharist and the establishment of perpetual adoration among his friars. St. Maximilian was zealous in spreading the Catholic faith and devotion to Our Lady, tirelessly working to print magazines like "Knight of the Immaculate" and evangelizing wherever he went, even with only one lung. He expended himself entirely for Jesus and Our Lady, serving as a model of self-sacrifice and unwavering perseverance. We are called to imitate his spirit, living our consecration faithfully, and asking for his intercession to continually mold us in the likeness of Jesus through Mary until our own holy death.
