Constant Learning and Growing in the Christian Adventure – Jul 23 – Homily – Fr Dominic

Fr Dominic Murphy Murphy gives the homily, on how Jesus calls us to continuous spiritual growth and perfection, urging us to overcome our resistance to change by diligently learning His word, receiving the Eucharist, and opening ourselves to God's enlightenment to cultivate virtue and deeper union with Him.
Jesus speaks in parables to encourage us to actively seek understanding and convert our lives, striving for Christian perfection by growing in virtue and a deeper relationship with God. Many of us, however, avoid this spiritual "school," preferring worldly distractions and finding it difficult to confront and change our faults like anger, impatience, or pride. The homily emphasizes that spiritual growth is a constant adventure requiring daily effort: continually reading the Gospels, praying for enlightenment, and regularly receiving the Eucharist, as our spiritual life can wane if not nourished. By opening our minds and hearts to God's grace and actively working on our virtues, we become happier, more charitable, and more like Christ and Our Lady, which is the best way to live.
