Ora et Labora: Harmonizing Prayer and Work in Christian Life – Jul 11 – Homily – Fr Alan

 

Fr. Alan B. Maria Wharton gives the homily on the Memorial of Saint Benedict, Abbot (July 11, 2026), reflects on his famous motto Ora et Labora (“prayer and work”), comparing Benedictine monasticism with the spirituality of Saint Francis while emphasizing that both traditions place prayer at the center of Christian life.

Drawing lessons from these two great saints, Father urges Christians to sanctify their daily work through prayer, allowing contemplation to guide their actions and make their labor fruitful in the service of God.
