Franciscan spirituality emphasizes the power of our will and its orientation towards God. This is based on Saint Bonaventure's theory of intellectual and moral illumination, which guides the mind and will towards God, the supreme good. Father explains that our will, though weakened by sin, inherently seeks the infinite, culminating in the perfect gift of God to man through Jesus Christ, the Incarnation. The struggle to know God and adhere to Him amidst worldly distractions is acknowledged, but the ultimate peace and happiness are found in uniting our wills with God, exemplified in the Incarnation and Redemption through Jesus Christ.
