Do Not Ignore This One Fact – Dec 10 – Homily – Fr Alan

In the the homily for the Second Sunday of Advent (Dec 10, 2023), Fr. Alan expounds on the instruction from St. Peter in the second reading: "Do not ignore this one fact, beloved..." that our perception of a delay in the fulfilment of God's plan is not, in fact, an accurate summary of what is happening with regard to the coming of the Kingdom of God.

St. Peter in his letter tells us not to think that God has delayed his promise, but that he is patiently waiting for us to repent, before all is consumed in fire. Since we don't know when that will be, the time to repent is now, if only to avoid perdition. A better motive is to imitate Christ and his holy disciples, of whom Mary is the greatest, and the one in whom the Lord delights. Let us seek refuge in her Immaculate Heart, the way to God.

Ave Maria!
