Fr Terrance gives the homily at Bloomington, IN, on Jun 02, 2023, on how our moral "progress" today has been toward darkness and cold, which has eternal consequences, and going to the light of Catholic teaching will lead to eternal light.

Yesterday's Alleluia verse referenced John 8:12 - I am the light of the world, whoever follows me will have the light of life - https://bible.usccb.org/bible/john/8?12 , while today's Gospel speaks of John 15:16 - I chose you from the world to go and bear fruit that will last - https://bible.usccb.org/bible/john/15?16. We celebrate martyrs, who embody the love of the sacred heart, emphasizing Leviticus 17:11 - the life is in the blood -https://bible.usccb.org/bible/leviticus/17?11.

Being a light to the world, following Christ's example is essential. St. James warns against double-mindedness in James 1:18 -  https://bible.usccb.org/bible/james/1?18. Despite cultural shifts accepting practices against God's teachings, we must hold to the true meanings of love, life, family, purpose as expressed in 1 John 4:16 - God is love - https://bible.usccb.org/bible/1john/4?16, John 1:4 - God is life -https://bible.usccb.org/bible/john/1?4, and 1 John 3:2 - God's purpose for us is to make us like him -https://bible.usccb.org/bible/1john/3?2. The consequences of the cultural shifts are explained in Matthew 24:12 - the love of many will grow cold - https://bible.usccb.org/bible/matthew/24?12.

We cannot compromise on God's truths as the Church is the foundation of truth 1 Timothy 3:15 - the church is the pillar and foundation of truth - https://bible.usccb.org/bible/1timothy/3?15, with the power to bind and loose Matthew 16:19 - the church has the power to bind and to loose - https://bible.usccb.org/bible/matthew/16?19. We're urged by St. Paul in Romans 12:2 - do not be conformed to the world, but be transformed by the renewal of your minds - https://bible.usccb.org/bible/romans/12?2 not to compromise. To do so risks our eternal salvation.

Testing God, as cautioned against in Deuteronomy 6:16 - do not put the Lord your God to the test - https://bible.usccb.org/bible/deuteronomy/6?16 and Luke 4:12 - do not put the Lord your God to the test - https://bible.usccb.org/bible/luke/4?12, by embracing worldly lies leads to condemnation John 3:17 - He who does not believe in the Son is condemned - https://bible.usccb.org/bible/john/3?17. This is a warning not to risk everything, as Proverbs 12:15 - the way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but a wise man listens to advice - https://bible.usccb.org/bible/proverbs/12?15 says.

Finally, those who struggle with same-sex attraction or gender dysphoria should know they are loved by God, and their suffering can be meritorious if offered up to the Lord. We are all called to be faithful witnesses to Christ, choosing light over darkness.
