Fr Terrance gives the homily at Bloomington, IN on Feb 03, 2023, on how Franciscan Spirituality is a subset of Catholic spirituality that is focused on becoming like Christ.
Notes:
Since Christ is so great and rich, there are many approaches.
1 Cor 1 24 - https://bible.usccb.org/bible/1corinthians/1?24
Not just a covering
Holiness is not a hand out but
Catholic spirituality is comprised of Schools with Spiritual masters who have eyes on Jesus the model as an artist on his model
Try to sculpt the image of Jesus, first in their own souls.
Saints are like the light sent through a prism producing different colors, same light but different positive effects in each person
Different schools
Franciscan is seraphic, so seraphic school
Seraphic means those who burn with God's love. Isaiah 6 - https://bible.usccb.org/bible/isaiah/6
Christ in the form of a Seraph angel gave hi the stigmata on La Verna made him image of Christ - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/La_Verna
differences in spirituality are accents, different approaches within Catholic faith
Eph 3 8 - the inscrutable riches of Christ- https://bible.usccb.org/bible/ephesians/3?8
Romans 8: 29 conformity to God - https://bible.usccb.org/bible/romans/8?29
Again Grace and Free will, requires collaboration on our part. If not
Goal is to become like Christ in a particular "school"
Ask Mary to make us more teachable in this school.
