Fr Matthias gives the homily at Bloomington, IN on Jan 28, 2023, on how St. Thomas Aquinas had the question of "Who is God" from his youth and this led to a very sublime knowledge of theology, understanding God's revelation, using the scholastic method first developed by the Greeks but later employed for Christian Theology. Father explains how today, rigorous thinking is accepted for technology but not appreciated in regard to religion. St Thomas Aquinas and the Scholastics realize that we must govern our lives by faith and thinking, not just feeling. Faith is first, then thinking, then feeling. Feelings can be manipulated so we need to have clear and rigorous thinking for religion and ethical behavior. Sometimes we even need to go against our feelings.
