How to get Indulgences for Souls in Purgatory – Nov 03 – Homily – Fr Matthias

Fr Matthias gives the homily at Bloomington, IN, on Nov 03, 2022, on the plenary indulgences that are available, one per day, throughout the first week of November for praying for the dead at a cemetery and what is needed to obtain them to encourage us to try to do so for helping our own souls and those in purgatory. These indulgences can bring a soul directly out of purgatory, curtailing any further suffering purgation.

These indulgences can be accrued by visiting a cemetery and praying for the souls in purgatory, combined with going to communion and to confession, praying for the Holy Father's intentions, ( all of which need to be done 20 days before or after the visit) and finally having detachment from all sin.

Sacramental confession, one can be applied to many visits to the cemetery for multiple indulgences

Sacramental communion one-to-one - Multiple communions are needed for multiple indulgences

Prayers for the Holy Father - same as communion, multiple prayers are needed for multiple indulgences

Detachment from all sin - Firm decision of mind and will to not sin, venially or mortally. not wanting sin is different from temptation or being attracted to sin.
