Triumph of the Cross Over Sin – Sep 14 – Homily – Fr Matthias

Fr Matthias gives the homily at Bloomington, IN, on Sep 14, 2022, the feast of the Triumph of the Holy Cross, explaining how the redemptive act of the crucifixion, needed after the fall, fits in with His original desire to be incarnate as a man through the Immaculate Virgin Mary. This can be understood by reflecting on how God does not do good because of evil, but despite evil, and involves a loss; due to the fall, when God became man, He then had to suffer on the cross to redeem us from our sins. He then applies this to our personal lives, that it is never good to sin to try to bring about a greater good, but that sin always brings about a loss. Sin is never worthwhile.
