Fr Terrance gives the homily at Bloomington, IN on Jan 29, 2022, on the 8th Mark of Charity, love is not irritable, it is not wrathful, continuing his series on the Marks of Charity (1 Corinthians 13:5)

He explains how God seems to be angry by distinguishing this from the human emotion of irritability

His anger is founded on his love for us and to bring us back from the wrong path

The wording of God in the Bible is metaphorical and analogous.

We need to understand the covenant relationship with us that is analogous to a human family relationship

Jesus is a divine person but does have human nature so he does have emotions

God wants smooth off our rough edges

There is righteous anger but it must be based on justice

never being angry is more of a Buddhist or stoic approach

Anger can help us overcome difficult challenges but must know the limits of what we can do and back off when it is not productive.
