The Life of S. of God John the Gardener, Confessor, First Order (d. 1501) for the Franciscan Saint of the Day for Jan 29. S. of God John the Gardener was born in Portugal of poor parents but did what he could for the poor and then entered the Franciscans where he was the gardener, growing in sanctity, diligently cultivating the garden of his soul and those of others.
