Listen & Obey: The Word of God – Oct 09 – Homily – Fr Terrance

 

Fr Terrance gives the homily at Bloomington, IN on Oct 09, 2021, on how the word of God is the will of God, which we must obey for our sanctification, becoming like God, making our wills like His. This is the basis of loving God. To listen and not obey is foolish, choosing failure over success. This also involves choosing to believe and thus relates to Mary's prophecy that all generations will call her blessed. This is fulfilled when the woman shouted out, blessed are the breasts that have fed you. St John Chrysostom, Augustine, and others say Mary is blessed because she obeyed and believed. Our Lord said his mother, brothers, and sisters are the ones who hear and obey the word of God. Thus, by believing and obeying the word of God, we can bring Christ into the world just like Mary.
