The Life of Bl. Bernard of Offida, Confessor, First Order (1604-1694) for the Franciscan Saint of the Day for Aug 27. Bl. Bernard of Offida was a pious youth who entered the convent early. He begged for alms, worked for peace between people so much that he was called the angel of peace, was able to read the state of souls, promoted reverence for priests, rosary, begged for the poor, and strive to waste nothing. There were many miracles after death.

Reflection is on Christian thrift, protects against wastefulness, shows appreciation for god's gift, ensures enough for thin times, leaves extra for charity for the poor.
