"The Life of Ven. Mary of Agreda, Virgin, Second Order (1602-1665) for the Franciscan Saint of the Day for Aug 8. Ven. Mary of Agreda was born in Spain and showed early piety. At 17 entered the Poor Clares at Agreda, listening to spiritual directors, wrote The Mystical City of God. There is evidence that she Bi-located to New Mexico where she catechized natives before any missionaries arrived. She died in 1665 on Pentecost day.
St Dominic also on this day. Founder of the Dominicans and was the first cord bearer of St Francis.
