The Life of St. Bonaventure, Bishop and Doctor, First Order (1221-1274) for the Franciscan Saint of the Day for Jul 15. St. Bonaventure was born at Bagnoregio in Italy and was cured by St. Francis in his youth and then later entered the Franciscans where he studied in Paris and was given important offices both at the University at Paris and in the Franciscan Order, finally becoming the minster General of the order, being considered the second founder of the Franciscans. Reflection is on the Love of God which was central to the teaching of St. Bonaventure. It excludes all evil thus is the means to holiness. and the means to love God is to meditate on the crucified Christ who died for the love of us.
