Fr. Ignatius Manfredonia on Mary's Charity, the many examples of this charity, and how her example can make our lives more charitable toward God and neighbor.
This is the second of five talks for our "Virtues of Mary" retreat, June 18-20 at the Mother of the Redeemer Retreat Center in Bloomington, Indiana.
Notes:
Humility is the foundation that supports the other virtues and charity can grow to the extent that humility is forming a good basis, the more humility the higher the charity can be achieved and Mary had the most humility, therefore, she was able to go to higher levels of charity.
Imitating Mary’s charity leads to love of God, Jesus, and love of neighbor.
Examples of Mary’s charity: Fiat, The visitation, Wedding feast at Cana, Offered her only begotten son just like God
Suffered with Christ, a unique role of cooperation with Christ.
Advocate, Mediatrix, Coredemptrix
Do all we can for the salvation of souls to imitate her,
Fatima say one rosary a day
Prayer and sacrifice for the salvation of souls
Be involved in the church or an apostolate
Balancing prayer and contemplation with the exterior works
Life at Nazareth more active than in Jerusalem in the temple
Sacrifices are good but should not be an obsession, It’s a means not an end. Charity trumps sacrifice
