The Life of S. of God John Zumárraga, Confessor, First Order ( 1468-1548 ) for the Franciscan Saint of the Day for Jun 20. John Zumárraga was born in Spain. As a friar, he was appointed to high positions due to his skill and piety. He was appointed the first bishop of Mexico by the pope and emperor. There he fought bad officials who miss treated the natives and threatened his life on many occasions. He got the bad officials removed and was made archbishop
