BVM, Mother of the Church – May 24 – Homily – Fr Terrance

 

Fr Terrance gives the homily at Bloomington, IN on May 24, 2021, the feast (FI) of Mary, Mother of the Church, and how she gives us seven gifts as a good mother: Life, Love, Nourishment, Direction, Correction, Encouragement, and Example.

0:40 - 1. Life - She gives of spiritual life by giving us Christ and suffering with Him at the Cross and thus being the New Eve.

1:55 - 2. Love - She Loves us and wants us to be happy and thus gives us selfless, unconditional, eternal love.

3:13 - 3. Nourishment - where she is the mediatrix of all the graces that we need for the journey to heaven.

3:52 - 4. Direction - Where she points the way to heaven by pointing to the cross.

5:12 - 5. Correction - She corrects us when we deviate from the correct path, for example, Fatima. This helps us to reach maturity by learning to turn to the Lord.

7:16 - 6. Encouragement - She encourages us to help us go forward, which is a similar role to the Holy Spirit, the Paraclete, who is her spouse. She helps to not focus on bad things

9:30 - 7. Example - Mary gives us the example of fidelity to God in very difficult times by keeping focused on God and trusting in Him and embrace the cross.
