Fr Terrance gives the homily at Bloomington, IN on Jan 01, 2021, Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God, on how Mary exemplifies humility, mercy, and charity and how these virtues are interrelated, forming a trifecta of virtues, consistent with her election by God to be His Mother. He explains that Love is the most important virtue, consistent with the Franciscan school of thought perfected by Bl. John Duns Scotus. To deny that Mary is the Mother of God is to fall into one of two heresies, Monophysitism, which denies that Jesus had two natures or, Nestorianism, which claims Jesus was two persons. The true doctrine of the incarnation is that Jesus has two natures, divine and human, harmoniously united in one Divine Person. We should be like him where our behavior outside of Church is in harmony with our behavior and profession in Church on Sunday.
