Fr Josemaria gives the homily at Bloomington, IN on Sep 08, 2020, Feast of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary, on how Mary's Birth is the Dawn of Salvation and that Our Lady at the moment of her birth surpassed all the other saints in holiness combined even at the end of their lives.

He explains this using John Duns Scotus's principle that whatever excellence can be attributed to Mary that does not go against what the Church's teaches should be applied to her.

and the principle of eminence anything of excellence applied to any saint should be applied to Mary in some manner either in the same form, equivalent way, or an eminent way.

Fr. Uses the example of St Dominic and St Ambrose regarding these principles to explain how these principles apply to the great prerogatives of Mary.

Ave Maria!
