Work Hard, But Pray and Depend on God – Oct 21 – Homily – Fr Josemaria

In the homily for Monday of the Twenty-ninth Week in Ordinary Time (Oct 21, 2019), Fr. Josemaria points out that in the Parable of the Rich Fool (Lk 12: 16-21), the rich man was shrewd, but not wise. He forgot his ultimate end: God. “The fool says in his heart: ‘There is no God’” (Ps 14:1).

Today, the world still carries on as if God doesn't exist, and thus perpetuates a fundamental disorder in the affairs of men. The truly wise policy which balances natural and supernatural considerations was summed up by St. Ignatius of Loyola: "Work as if everything depended on you, and pray as if everything depended on God."
