Station II: Jesus takes up His cross
Jesus kissed His cross out of love of us… as unworthy as we are. His Love rose above our sins and underserving hearts. After a brutal scourging and crowning of thorns He willingly accepted all the sufferings He would have to endure for us.
O Jesus, help me to love and even sacrifice for those I might deem unworthy…since every sacrifice or suffering carries with it redemptive grace when we embrace it in union with You, our crucified Christ. Help me, Jesus, to embrace my cross, deny myself and take up my trials and burdens and follow You without fear, resentment or self pity; and may the crosses I carry for You console Your broken heart from the rejection of lost souls.
After each Station, pray “Jesus, Son of the living God, have mercy on me, a sinner. Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to Thee”
