Ave Maria!

At the Symposium titled "Sursum Actio" at Notre Dame Univ. from Jun 8-9, 2015, in honor of the life work of Fr. Peter Damian Fehlner, F.I., T. Alexander Gilltner, Ph.D., Cand., Saint Louis University, gives the twelfth conference which he titles, "Echoes of Eriugena in the Cosmic Exemplarism of Bonaventure: Sounding in Peter Damian Fehlner". He investigates the theological connections between John Scotus Eriugena c. 815 – c. 877 (not to be confused with Bl. John Duns Scotus c. 1265-1308) and St. Bonaventure. He compares many texts of the two theologians to point out the similarities between them, especially on the cosmic structure and Christ's place therein according to John Eriugena and the crucial key this provides to understanding the cosmology and metaphysics of Bonaventure as championed by Fr. Peter.

The talk is followed by a commentary by Fr. Peter.

This symposium, Sursum Actio ("Lift up your Actions" or more loosely "Lift up your Hearts"), was organized in honor of the life work of Fr. Peter Damian Fehlner after he won the Cardinal John J. Wright Marialogical Award of 2015 from the Mariological Society of America for his outstanding contributions to Mariology.
