Homily #151202n ( 00min) Play - The texts of the liturgy today underscore the need for us to prepare for Christ's coming.

As we pray in the Collect:

"Prepare our hearts, we pray, O Lord our God, by your divine power, so that at the coming of Christ your Son we may be found worthy of the banquet of eternal life and merit to receive heavenly nourishment from his hands."

Jesus founded the Church to be His "sacrament of salvation." We meet Christ daily in the Eucharist, and it is through seeking Christ in prayer and though the sacramental life of the Church that we prepare for our ultimate meeting with Him, at the end of our earthly life.
