Mary who is the receiver of the greatest mercy by being given the grace of the Immaculate Conception, was enabled to be efficacious in meriting and distributing this mercy, becoming the Mother of Mercy. Similarly if God has shown mercy to us we must show mercy to others. This is love. This is mercy.
