Homily #130628b ( 11min) Play - Fr. Elias on the life of St. Irenaus (d. 202AD) whose name means peace and how we worked to build peace in the Church that was beset with the divisions of heresy and wrote a whole book called Against Heresy. He is the first recorded promoter of the Absolute Primacy of Christ, later championed by the Franciscan Bl. John Duns Scotus, that the whole of Creation was created for the purpose of bringing about the Incarnation. He also defended the doctrine on Adam and Eve and original sin. All of this he used to work for peace and can be used today to fight the prolific heresies of our own day that are causing so much strife.
