Apr 12 – Homily – Fr Angelo: Seeing Ghosts

Views 1391

Homily #120412 ( 10min) Play - On Easter Sunday Jesus appeared to the disciples and they thought that they were seeing a ghost because they did not understand and trust Our Lord's words that He would rise again. Jesus helps them by eating in front of them and showing them his wounds to let them know that He completely overcame the power of death, letting them apprehend the magnitude of His victory when the clouds of doubt and defeat where weighing upon the early Church. Let us remember this Easter joy when we witness the many tribulations and seeming defeats for the Church that will inevitably come.

The Apostles/disciples didn’t get it then, and the Catholics don’t get it now. The Pope gets it, and some Catholics get it, but most don’t want to take their eyes off their iPods long enough to see what’s happening around them. Maybe our Shepherds need to speak a little louder! Lest we all be ghosts walking the earth.

  • Peter says:

Our Lord spoke openly, as do his shepherds. It is to the free will of man to decide to embrace that beautiful word of spirit and life. It is up to the Catholic faithful to do prayer and penance for that embrace and their conversion. That they may see truth, for whoever hears objective truth hears the voice of Christ. If people are unable or don’t want to see objective truth, they are unable to see Christ period. This is the lot of many of our brothers and sisters, hence prayer and action on our part. We are at War. Our Lady of Victory, pray for us…
