Homily #100402 ( 23min) Play - On Good Friday all the Church bells are silent starting from yesterday at the Last Supper Mass, not to be heard again until the Vigil Mass on Saturday. It is replaced by the wooden clapper to remind us of the Cross and specifically of the nails being pounded through Our Lord's venerable hands and into the Cross for the remission of our sins. Listen as Fr Bonaventure unfolds the events of Good Friday on this silence, looking forward to the joy of the bells of Easter.

We have only recently had our bells returned to Holy Mass at the consecration by our interim pastor. So I noticed their absence on Holy Thursday. Having not had them up until now, there was nothing to note in their absence on this particular day. And I did not know that it was a tradition to not have them at the Mass of Holy Thursday. Thanks to Air Maria, now I know this item of tradition.
