Ave Maria!— December’s Theme: Humility
“…the knowledge of your interior unworthiness and deformity is a most pure divine light by which your condition and ability to commit any sin whatsoever, without the help of grace, is placed before you. This light is a great mercy of God and it was granted to the greatest saints, because it shelters the soul from all feelings of vanity and pride, and consolidates humility which is the foundation of virtue and Christian perfection. St. Teresa also had this knowledge, and says it is so painful and horrible that it would cause death if the Lord did not sustain the heart.”
