Amen! The Holy Family should be our model.
My dad was a beloved Catholic physician at Holy Family Hospital in Brooklyn, New York, and to my enormous benefit and that of my five siblings, he and my mother modeled the Holy Family in love and virtue. When people say that the Church calls us to an unrealistic and unattainable ascetism in morality and virtue, I say that I have seen with my own eyes in my own family the life to which we are called, lived out on a daily basis. It was beautiful. May God help my wife and I to preserve this inheritance in our family.
Father Bonaventure is exactly right in saying that the Holy Family, despite their poverty, was the richest family, because they possessed the Christ child. The family that has Christ is indeed the richest family.
