Topic: The Magnificat – Canticle of the Immaculate Heart
Quote:
?I call the Magnificat the true canticle of the most Holy Heart of the Blessed Virgin[because] it originated in her Immaculate Heart and its melody vibrated her heart strings before it found voice on her lips.? – St. John Eudes, The Admirable Heart of Mary, (Loreto Publications: 2004), 289.
Meditation:
?To thank God for the graces he has given to our Lady, her consecrated ones will frequently say the Magnificat, following the example of Blessed Marie d’Oignies and several other saints. The Magnificat is the only prayer we have which was composed by our Lady, or rather, composed by Jesus in her, for it was he who spoke through her lips. It is the greatest offering of praise that God ever received under the law of grace. On the one hand, it is the most humble hymn of thanksgiving and, on the other, it is the most sublime and exalted. Contained in it are mysteries so great and so hidden that even the angels do not understand them. ? – St. Louis de Montfort, True Devotion to Mary, #255
(If you would like to read more about the Magnificat in the spirituality of St. Louis de Montfort, please see this EWTN link: JESUS LIVING IN MARY: HANDBOOK OF THE SPIRITUALITY OF ST. LOUIS DE MONTFORT)
Resolution:
I will be sure to pray the Magnificat at least once today.I will think of this prayer as the canticle of the Immaculate Heart especially in Evening prayer from the Breviary.
Marian Vow:
“The tertiaries shall pray each day with the Church reciting at least the canonical hours of Lauds and Vespers. When this is not possible, in substitution, they are to recite twelve Our Fathers for each canonical hour. It is certainly praiseworthy to recite the canonical hours in community and in the presence of the most Holy Sacrament. The tertiary priests of the diocesan clergy, who already celebrate the Liturgy of the Hours each day, are not obligated to anything else.” -Marian Seraphic Pathways, Constitutions #28
I give this resolution to the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Thanks be to God for graces received.
Ave Maria!
