Ave Maria!

Today in the Franciscan of the Immaculate we are celebrating the Feast of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary which actually occurred yesterday on the 7th of Oct. As a religious order dedicated to Mary we celebrate all Marian memorials as Feasts and so we are able to move the celebration to the next day since it was superseded by Sunday.

Our Lady of the Rosary is a commemoration of the naval victory at the Battle of Lepanto in 1571 over the Ottoman Empire and was originally called the feast of Our Lady of Victories. The victory was attributed to the power of the Rosary since the Pope called all the faithful to pray the Rosary to win the battle against Muslims who had superior numbers and were up till then unstoppable. Read about this incredible story and why we need to pray the Rosary today?in Fr. Angelo’s article The Spirit of Lepanto at MaryVictrix.com, the official web site of the Knights of Lepanto.

Our Lady of the Rosary, Pray for us.

Ave Maria!
