Ave Maria!
Today is the 6th anniversary of the dedication of Our Lady of Guadalupe Chapel here in Griswold, CT. As such we celebrate today's Mass as a solemnity. Listen to Fr. Ignatius' informative homily as he explains the importance of a place dedicated to God and the presence of the Holy Eucharist.
Ave Maria!
Thank you for this beautiful homily and most especially for having perpetual Eucharistic Adoration of Our Lord in His most Blessed Sacrament. I am sure it is not easy and there is not a huge population to draw from.
We have very limited adoration hours and , sorry to say, you will never run into any religious-preist, sister, or deacon there. It is entirely lay run and our priests will not preach it at all; in fact to request such preaching leads to disfavor. Where is the belief in the Real Presence? Our adorers are aging and the younger generations have no idea to the Gift of God with us in this manner.
Let us pray always and everywhere that many souls will come to know Our Eucharistic Lord.
Ave Maria!
Welcome Fr. Ignatius…My family and I look foward to more of your homilies both at the Frairy in Griswold, also on Air Maria.
I was reading in adoration ( I can’t remeber who), but there was a passage in a book that spoke of how full the stadiums are for pro-sports. How full the arenas are for musicians, and entertainers. How full the Banquet halls are for politicians, yet the Church remains empty. How trully sad it is that people don’t realize that the King of Kings is present just down the street, or across town, and there is no admission fees to see him.
Thanks for the encouragement, Magdalen. Your Adoration program is in our prayers. Many blessings come from adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. The encouraging news is that Adoration is increasing across the United States in general. Keep up the good fight.
Ave Maria!
Set All Afire,
Yes, we must pray that people realize the great blessings that we have in our Churches. Then they will be full!
Ave Maria!
what a great blog…
Thank you, Fr. Ignatius, for the homily. We look forward to more in the near future.
Unfortunately, distance of location presents a problem for our family to attend Adoration at the friary during the night. When we lived in KY, we had an awesome parish that offered 24 hour/7 days a week Adoration. A couple of my children would attend 4am Adoration with me. And, the others would attend 11pm with my husband. There are families out there who believe that Adoration is a tremendous gift to the family and society. So, don’t stop asking for adorers to come forward. It is possible that some people are not aware of your need.
I will add this special intention to my prayers.
God bless you and all that you do. Ave Maria!
EXCELLENT HOMILY FATHER IGNATIUS. YOU WERE ABLE TO DISCUSS A SERIOUS ISSUE WHILE INJECTING A BIT OF HUMOR. I AGREE WITH ‘AFIRE’ THAT IT IS SAD THAT SO MANY FACILITIES ARE FULL WHILE OUR CHURCHES ARE EMPTY. I ENCOURAGE THE FRIARS AND OTHERS ON THIS BLOG TO THINK OF WAYS TO INFORM PEOPLE ABOUT THE AVAILABILITY OF THE CHAPEL. MANY ARE SEEKING HELP THAT TIME IN THE PRESENCE OF THE LORD WILL HELP. LOVE THIS WEBSITE. HOW ABOUT PUTTING A LINK ON THE EWTN SITE.
George M. /Everybody:
Not to get off the subject to much… The Friars also have a great web blog\site for men. Maryvictrix.com. I firmly believe that the reason why churches remain empty is due to the lack of male influence in our parishes. I am a product of the eighties\nineties where the church was overruled by the lay women. Men didn’t see it as their “place??? to teach their family the Catechism, take them to church, or influence their sons to be an acolyte. They just handed over the reigns hastily. I think that is why we find ourselves in this current situation. The men of this world would rather take their sons to goggle at immodestly dressed women chanting for some sports team to play D-D-Defense. By Our Lady’s grace and intercession we (that are within a 30 mile radius of a FFI) have the friars to help guide us men and have we men guide our sons for the reign of Christ the King.
Fr. Ignatius,
Speaking of blessed, the congregation of Our Lady of Gaudalupe Chapel and Griswold are blessed to have you. Welcome back to the States.
Love your cousin Scott
