Ave Maria!

The Friars and the Knights of Lepanto, our lay men's group apostolate, held our first encampment for boys on the weekend of May 25th. 'Faith and Action' was the driving theme, and the question asked was "How do boys become men, and how does a young man become a true man of God??? The answer comes through the practice of prayer, virtue, and chivalry, and this post is a sampling of that message, as delivered by Fr. Angelo. "Prayer and action, prayer and action, prayer and action,?? is the drumbeat of the Knights of Lepanto.

In this wonderful talk, Fr. Angelo discusses the nature and history of chivalry and knighthood in the middle ages, including the purpose of the knights and their place in society. His focus " the meat of the talk - is on the knight's code of ethics. To whom much is given, much is expected, and much was expected of a true knight. He was expected to use his our strengths, talents, and energies to do what is right for the common good. Father draws on illustrations from the Chronicles of Narnia and the Lord of the Rings to illustrate the sense of our nobility as knights and children of God.

Life is an adventurous battle. When King Arthur sat down with his knights for dinner, he would insist that no one eat until an adventure happens. Getting up and facing our challenges everyday with courage is part of the adventure, it's part of the battle. Everything is at stake is our battle because we are battling for our very souls. The reality of life is that we either win everything (heaven) or we suffer a complete defeat in hell.

Please take the time to listen to this wonderful instruction, and take notes!

This is a good talk by Father. We need to hear more talks and books about masculine spirituality and about what it means to be a man. This is seriously lacking in the Church. Not only teens but adults need this instruction.

I agree with father’s talk. it simply gives the masculine spirituality a more clear definition, either implicitly ore xplicitly

What a wonderful job Father Angelo is doing with the boys in this Video – Fr. Angelo Geiger: Chivalry and Manhood!!!! My heart rejoices to see so many young men listening and growing in the Love of God by his (Fr. Angelo’s) work with the Knights of Lepanto. Praise be Our Lord Jesus Christ for such victories. Fr. Angelo is a good teacher and it is obvious in this video that he is in his element with his spiritual children! May there be many more in the years to come. Ave Maria

What a terrific idea, an encampment, where boys can learn about becoming real men. These are fortunate boys, who are able to have the FI, and Father Angelo, involved in their formation, as men. I’m sure they will remember Father’s talks when they become Fathers. And hopefully, as they grow in grace, and employ the virtues Father is talking about, they will know the joy of being a real men, who can approach Jesus, as a brother, always.

And…perhaps, if it is their destiny, as they approach marriage, they might discover an age old secret, about wives. To a woman, there is nothing more romantic, than a real man, who respects women, and who is willing stand up and embrace the challenges of life!
