Ave Maria!

In this homily, Fr. Angelo reflects on the period between the Ascension and the coming of the Holy Spirit.

Our Lord left this earth, and yet He promised not to leave: "I will not leave you as orphans.?? He left in order to fulfill the promise that He would send the Holy Spirit upon His apostles so they could remember and understand all His teachings. Before Pentecost, the disciples were weak and cowardly in faith; after, they were bold and courageous. We must not cling to Our Lord as Mary Magdalene did, which was in a natural, sentimental way. We must cling to His words and His commandments. This is the bottom line of being a disciple of Christ.

Our Lord ascended to heaven, yet still remains with us in the Blessed Sacrament, and the joy of God's grace in our soul will carry us through every inconvenience, every uncertainly, and every misfortune, as it did the apostles after Pentecost.
