During the octave (8 days) of Easter, the daily gospel readings speak of Our Lord's appearances after the Resurrection & the readings give us accounts of the works of the Apostles. The message is clear: the works of the Lord continued, and still continue, even after His earthly ministry was completed. Our greatest gift to the world is Christ's promise of salvation and peace to men of good will, and the Apostles, mere fishermen, backed up this message with miracles done in His name.
